The Casuarinas - Into The Clearing review

Mini Review by Ian Dearden

The soundtrack to my commute to work today – the mini-LP “Into The Clearing” by Brisbane group The Casuarinas. Proudly recorded AAA (multitrack tape, mixed to a master tape, mastered to a lacquer & pressed to vinyl (like they did in the ‘old days’)). The lineage is fascinating – traces of the early country rock side of Grateful Dead, with Grace Slick sitting in on vocals, through Gram Parsons, ‘Harvest’ era Neil Young, The Band, and The Decemberists’ barn album ‘The King Is Dead’ – it’s all there and more. Sort of Americana Gothic with an Aussie twist!! Wonderful stuff, worth going out and buying a turntable for!! Like them on FB, and track down the album at a vinyl store near you!!
